Our Food Bank breaks records; serves hundreds

One of our recent Food Bank days looked like a bee hive; the need for food continues to increase as economic problems have caught up with many in our area

On that day, we broke a record. Look at these statistics:

< > 278 bags of food distributed.
< > 11,000 pounds of food given.
< > 83 households served.
< > 207 people received food.

We had an amazing crew of volunteers working, both Friday afternoon putting the bags together, and Saturday morning distributing the food to those who came.

We had a large crew, but we needed them all. They are impressive in the way they work together and care lovingly for people in need.

And, it seemed to rub off. One man who was supposed to receive 6 bags for his family cut his request to 2 bags when he realized we were running out of food.

God is truly working in powerful ways through our Food Bank.

Calhoun Church has top Youth Ministry Team

We're excited about our new Youth Ministry Team - Tracy Ward and Caleb Younse - who have taken on the job of leading our youth to greater things in the Lord.

Tracy grew up in this church in our youth group. She now has a married daughter and a teenage son, and is working on her degree in social work from University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Caleb also spent time here in our youth group and is working on a ministry degree from Whitfield College while serving here as one of our Youth Ministers.

We're thrilled to have these mature, capable leaders working in our youth program.

Our 18th Annual Prayer Workshop featured special worship, seasoned speakers

Our 18th Annual Prayer Enrichment Workshop back in September emphasized the theme - "Building Your Life Around Prayer". Several experienced speakers led us in the study & practice of prayer, including two men who've written and taught about prayer more than anyone else in our fellowship: Albert Lemmons & Tony Ash.

This year's Workshop began on Friday afternoon, September 9th at 3:00 PM with a special prayer seminar featuring Albert Lemmons and then continued on Saturday and Sunday with some wonderful speakers on prayer and a powerful time of networking with other "prayer warriors".

All of this, plus wonderful worship, always combines to produce a Prayer Workshop with an atmosphere of closeness to the Lord Jesus. The Spirit of Prayer abounds.
