Calhoun Church of Christ Food Bank

Each month, on the third Saturday, our church distributes free groceries to qualified families. As a part of the North Louisiana Food Bank, we give the groceries to families who qualify under the government's guidelines.

On each of these monthly distributions, we normally give away almost 5 tons of food (the last distribution was 9,900 lbs).

During the Thanksgiving distribution we were able to distribute frozen hens to each family in addition to their normal share of food, which added even more pounds to the figure above. Thanks to the Lord's blessing and the generosity of our members, the Food Bank continues to be effective in combating hunger in North East Louisiana.

Recently the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank announced increased income caps, making it easier to qualify for free food. Check the chart below to see the new caps.

Our distribution day is the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM.

HOW TO SIGN UP:

If you live in Ouachita Parish and would like to sign up for food you can...

(1) Come to our church building on the third Saturday of any month at 9:00 AM (bring proof of income.)

(2) Or you can leave a message for J.L. Barnard at 318-644-2216.

Monthly Income Caps (July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012):

1 in household making less than $1,180.

2 in household: $1,593.

3 in household: $2,008.

4 in household: $2,421.

5 in household: $2,835.

6 in household: $3,250.

7 in household: $3,663.

8 in household: $4,076.

For each additional member after 8 - $414.
